As a couturier to royalty since generations, Jean might be a newcomer on the colossal fashion scene, but he’s made it clear that his designs aren’t for the faint hearted. With his fanciful creations and whimsical storytelling, the designer is placing himself on the map as a firm favourite, and someone the industry leaders are watching very closely. Not to mention, as a creator of avant-garde couture in all its excessive beauty, is nothing short of a magical spectacle.

Jean’s Fall-Winter 2020 collection is inspired by the storm goddess, Lilith, who grew wings to liberate herself from an unwanted destiny. She was the first woman who had reclaimed power, and in the process started a notorious revolution. Therefore, the designer celebrates women and their potency by reinterpreting Lilith’s story with an open mindset, to represent a myth in all its glory. Herein, he experiments with his designs, by adding wings, feathers, snake prints and vibrant colours; narrating the story of a woman, a goddess who grieved but later garnered strength to stand tall and gorgeous as a symbol of empowerment. When did you first realise you wanted to be a designer?

My father was a fashion designer, I spent most of my childhood in his atelier, and the love for design and dresses grew within me at a very young age. I always knew that I wanted to be a designer, especially since I was constantly surrounded by creation and art.
