Despite our best hopes and wishes, it has become amply clear that the Coronavirus pandemic is now a worldwide phenomenon. Even with more than 2 million active cases reported across the globe and over 147,000 deaths, the curve is still on the rise, with more and more countries are responding rapidly by shutting down their borders and halting all non-essential services to the public. India, as expected, has been hit hard as well, with the country now going through the fourth week of lockdown, as millions are stuck at home and an uncertain future looms ahead. In times like these, it is common to see the fashion and lifestyle segments getting hit the hardest, as people cut down on their discretionary expenses and focus only on essentials. Unfortunately, unlike other types of crisis, this particular pandemic is affecting every corner of the globe at the same time, thus compounding the problems and resulting in a cascade of failures in terms of customer demand, supply chains, marketing, distribution and much more. Today, we take a look at some of these problems and how they might change the layout of the industry moving forward.
