I’ve always wanted to be a pilot for as long as I can remember. My dad joined the Malaysian Air Force at the age of 22, flying helicopters for nine years before pursuing a career in commercial aviation. Since I was exposed to the world of aviation at a young age, I was fully aware of a pilot’s lifestyle and growing up, I had no doubts that this was the right job for me.
I was 18 when I flew my first aircraft. It was a single-engine Piper Warrior. After completing high school, I took a one-year break before joining the Malaysian Flying Academy. The whole course took 18 months. I have a lot of memories of being up in the air, but the most special has to be my first solo flight back in flying school as that was the first time I flew a single-engine airplane without my instructor, Captain Samson Yaw.
