A cheeseboard makes the perfect end to a meal, or even a lovely supper in its own right – here’s how to put one together to please all tastes.

The secret to a good cheeseboard is to have a variety of tastes and textures on it, with hard, soft, blue, and goat’s cheese all making an appearance. keep it to three or four cheeses so your tastebuds aren’t overwhelmed, and cater for about 30g of cheese per person. and don’t forget the accompaniments. pile cheese on crackers, biscuits and even bread, and complement flavours with sweet options like fresh fruit, preserves and chutney, and something salty such as roasted nuts or olives.
