Tarini Jindal Handa MANAGING DIRECTOR OF JSW REALTY THAT FOCUSES ON BUILDING ENERGY-EFFICIENT AND ECO-FRIENDLY STRUCTURES

The managing director of JSW Realty—an Indian conglomerate worth ₹10.5 trillion—Tarini Jindal Handa is on a mission to create the greenest buildings possible. Most structures created by JSW Realty have systems and components designed to achieve various sustainability goals, including high energy and water efficiency and low carbon emissions.

The Marine Drive Toilet in Mumbai, for instance, was made sustainably with weather-proof Corten steel sheets. The eco-friendly luxury apartment tower Morena House is another such example. The Art India Residency in Vijayanagar supports local businesses by using regionally available resources. And, 1000 Trees—perhaps her most aspirational project so far—is a township that aims to be zero-waste. “My father (Sajjan Jindal) once told me, ‘With privilege comes responsibility’. That comment has always stood out in my mind and has resulted in the meaningful work we do at JSW Realty,” says the art patron-turned-real-estate tycoon.
