Yoyo Cao is perched in front of a wooden-top counter in the living room of her new home while hair and makeup readies her for the camera. Much of her penthouse is sun-soaked, with the decor kept minimal and elegant — tinged with gold hardware from the living room to the bathrooms — albeit grounded by the rustic feel of the rattan and wicker elements that are peppered throughout. A few feet away from her is an expansive, cognac couch with a gorgeous patina that anchors the communal area. It’s framed by a cream carpet picked up on her travels to Marrakech (for Dior’s Cruise 2020 runway show), a green marble-top coffee table, a singular potted plant and, a woven Loewe basket bag that she’d purchased immediately after seeing it in the window of the boutique. The walls are stark white, and treated to pared-back panelling. As fragments as well as a mise en scène, they’re quintessential of the style icon’s timeless palate, one that Instagram knows and loves.
