As a former photography director of ELLE Decoration and the co-founder of Made Good — a production, art direction, interior styling, and content production company — Flora Bathurst was full of great ideas when it came to renovating her own home. “I spend all day looking at the most beautiful houses in the world,” she says. “There’s a constant inspiration.” And the four-bedroom terrace in north-west London that she shares with husband Andrew, son Eli, seven, and daughter Isobel, four, certainly put all her style skills to the test.
The 1890s-era house was “in a very sorry state” before they moved in four years ago, just in time for Notting Hill Carnival down the road. “There were rotten joists and holes in the floor,” recalls Bathurst. “It was the ultimate doer-upper.” The outside of the building was also painted a lurid shade of mint green.
