Acomódate. “El secreto para tener un cerebro más resistente y una mejor salud mental comienza en la cama”, asegura Kimberly Wilson, quien ha observado desde primer plano los efectos demenciales de terminar agotada del trabajo por la noche y levantarse supertemprano para ir a la oficina. Después de haber laborado en un bufete de abogados, recuerda lo que vivió: “Tenía sueño todo el tiempo, mi vida emocional se vio reflejada en la toma de decisiones. Varios colegas me dijeron que mejor fuera a casa a llorar. Luego sintieron vergüenza por mí al no ser lo suficientemente competitiva”. Antes que existiera la luz artificial, nosotros los humanos estábamos más en sintonía siendo activos durante el día y descansar en cuanto cayera la oscuridad. Este patrón se llama ritmo circadiano, nuestros cuerpos funcionan mejor cuando se suman a él, pero la vida moderna lo hace complicado. La ardua jornada laboral, celulares y los problemas laterales influyen en la vida, pero hay formas de priorizar el sueño”, revela Wilson.
