The Many Moods of Regina

The Many Moods of Regina

You might remember Regina Cassandra as Kuhu, Sonam Kapoor’s love interest in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, but here’s what else you should know about this 29-year-old: Regina has over two dozen movies to her credit, is passionate about animals (she became a vegetarian after reading a PETA article), and earlier this year, she turned ‘drag queen’ (Bio Queen, to be precise) to support drag artists. Currently self-isolating at her home in Chennai, Regina pulled off this full-blown, ‘fantasy-themed’ shoot with a tight crew (“and ample precautions”). Enjoying her “forced break” at the moment, Regina admits she is grateful that she doesn’t have to wake up to an alarm. “This is the only time you can do nothing and not feel guilty about it,” she laughs. A leisurely, almost two-hour chat unfolds a great deal about this young (but also kind of-veteran) actor. And if first impressions are anything to go by, the first five minutes reveal that Regina is incredibly warm and chatty (an interviewer’s delight!) and unafraid to speak her mind. Currently yo-yoing between being a couch potato and being super-productive, Regina tells Cosmo about her journey as an actor, stepping into Bollywood, and why she takes burnout very, very seriously!
