The big-hearted breakfast host played fairy godmother to a teen dubbed ‘Cinderella Sam’
She’s a country kid at heart, so when Samantha Lee was told the money set aside for her end-of-year formal dress would have to go towards more feed for their hundred head of cattle, she copped it on the chin.
No-one expected what came next for the 18-year-old from Briagolong in rural Victoria, whose formal dream will come true thanks to Today host Georgie Gardner and an incredible drought initiative to help out teenagers in the bush.
“It’s surreal! I saw a segment on Today about Dresses for the Drought, where they send formal dresses for kids like me doing it tough, so I contacted them, ‘Keeping the cattle alive is far more important than the formal’ never imagining I would actually get a dress,” grins Samantha.
