Summer Beauty Made Easy

Summer is almost here and that means it’s time to alter your beauty routine in order to protect your skin and hair. The truth is lazy days spent in the sun and swimming can wreak havoc on your complexion and your locks. As the temperature rises, many of us skip the heavy make-up, such as foundations and concealers, and opt for a more natural look to cope with the humidity.

“Heavy make-up doesn’t wear well in summer,” says celebrity make-up artist Allison Boyle. “Sweaty, melting make-up is never a good look.” Instead, she recommends opting for lighter skincare products, tinted moisturiser with SPF and waterproof mascara.

“I like to change my beauty routine starting with skincare,” she says. “Skin isn’t as dry in summer, so you may want to swap your skincare to lighter versions of the cleanser and moisturiser that you use in winter. The same applies to make-up. Assess your foundation colour [as you may be slighter darker in skin tone] and also the formulation. A more moisturising formula is great for winter and a lighter-weight, oil-free version is best for summer, especially if your skin tends to get oily.”
