PRINCE WILLIAM: A PLANET FOR US ALL

NEW MONDAY / ITV / 9PM / FACTUAL

A passion for conservation has long run through royal blood. While his grandfather Prince Philip and father Prince Charles have campaigned for decades to protect the environment, now, inspired by his three children, Prince William is leading his own fight to safeguard the natural world.

In ITV’s new documentary, Prince William: A Planet For Us All, the Duke of Cambridge reveals how becoming a dad has led him to speak out against everything from climate change to wildlife extinction. Filmed over two years, the one-off special follows Prince William as he travels around the world to meet the young people and communities who are at the forefront of the urgent need to save our planet.

‘I’ve always loved nature, but fatherhood has given me a new sense of purpose. Now I have George, Charlotte and Louis, your outlook does change. You want to hand over to the next generation the wildlife in a much better condition,’ says the Prince, 38, who, despite the stark environmental threats he witnesses, is optimistic.

‘Someone has to put their head above the parapet and say, “I care about this.” If we all work together, we can make a difference.’

Here, producer Martin Williams, 46, talk us through the highlights of his documentary on Prince William’s efforts to help…
