Isle of fright!

A big-name cast including Emily Watson, Paddy Considine and Jude Law star in gripping new Sky Atlantic psychological thriller The Third Day, set on a mysterious island where a sinister community will apparently do anything to protect their way of life.

Written by Dennis Kelly (who wrote the acclaimed 2013 C4 drama Utopia), the six-part series is told through three stand-alone but interconnected stories entitled Summer, Autumn and Winter.

Comprising the first three episodes, Summer follows Sam (played by The Young Pope star Jude, inset) as he arrives on a mysterious island. It is linked to mainland Britain by a causeway that is submerged under the waves for most of the day when the tide is in.

In a groundbreaking move, the next part of the series, Autumn, will be a one-off theatrical event to be broadcast as live on Sky Arts and online at the beginning of October.

In the concluding three episodes, Winter, another outsider, Helen (James Bond star Naomie Harris) comes to the island looking for answers but her arrival has serious ramifications for the community.
