‘I didn't recognise myself'

After leaving EastEnders in 2009, Kara Tointon was keen to step back in time with her next acting roles.

So far, she’s visited the early 20th century as elegant Rosalie Selfridge in department store saga Mr Selfridge and starred as World War Two jazz singer Betsey in hotel drama The Halcyon.

Now, she’s delighted to be playing real-life 18th-century actor Kitty Clive in the third episode of the fourth run of Sky Arts’ quirky comedy anthology Urban Myths.

‘I’ve always wanted to whack on a silver-white wig that’s 5ft high – now I’ve ticked off another era on my list!’ says Kara, 37, who, here, in an exclusive interview, tells TV Times more…

Are you a fan of Urban Myths?

I am! The series has become something special in its own right – a mash-up of randomness that makes for great comedy. The cast list of guest stars has been phenomenal – David Haig is in my episode. I’m a huge fan of his.
