STAR TREK'S NEW FRONTIER

New worlds, species, friends and foes are on the horizon for the crew of the USS Discovery as the third season of the hit sci-fi spin-off beams on to Netflix this week.

We last saw the combined forces of Discovery and the USS Enterprise battling Control’s fleet in an epic season-two finale, which ended with Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) using the Red Angel suit to open up a time wormhole and guide the Discovery ship and its crew to safety.

TIME TRAVEL

The action picks up 930 years in the future, with Burnham and Discovery separately crash-landing on a seemingly desolate planet. Battered and bruised but still in fight mode, the irrepressible Burnham quickly sets off to locate her crew.

‘Taking the story into the future is a genius decision,’ says MartinGreen. ‘Now we get to tell our own stories because we are boldly going where no other Star Trek has gone before, but at the same time, we are still connected to the Star Trek canon. This season is new and exhilarating.
