When the head of a crime family is gunned down, his son must assert his authority, seek revenge and retain control as rivals seek to take advantage of the shift in power…
It’s a story reminiscent of Mafia classic The Godfather, but in the new Sky Atlantic drama Gangs of London, it’s played out on the mean streets of the UK capital. The action-packed nine-parter stars Joe Cole, 31, best known for playing gang member John Shelby in the BBC’s Peaky Blinders, as young pretender Sean Wallace.
Sean’s father Finn (Star Trek actor Colm Meaney) is an Irish immigrant who has built up his underworld empire from nothing. He is in the process of making the business more legitimate by moving into construction when the fragile truce between the city’s rival gangs is suddenly upset by Finn’s death at the hands of a contract killer.
