NEW: DRAMA

White Lines From Friday 15 May, 10 episodes as a box set, Netflix

Not many people had heard of Álex Pina a couple of years ago, but following the international success of his Netflix crime drama Money Heist, the Spanish screenwriter is now one of the hottest properties in television.

Netflix wasted no time in signing him up to an exclusive contract and the streaming giant’s faith looks set to be rewarded this week as Pina brings us another nailbiting thriller that promises to be just as popular.

White Lines is a roller-coaster story of love, friendship, and betrayal, which begins when the body of a once-popular British DJ, Axel Collins, is discovered 20 years after he disappeared from the party island of Ibiza, where he was living and working.

‘Álex Pina has the most outrageous imagination,’ says Code 404’s Daniel Mays, who plays Axel’s old pal Marcus. ‘The show is dark and compelling, but it also has elements of comedy. All the characters are pushed to their limits. There are lots of people with lots of secrets, so it’s an exciting ride.’

Featuring wild parties against a sun-soaked backdrop, the 10-part series follows two timelines, one in 1996 and one in the present day, as Axel’s younger sister Zoe arrives on the Balearic island looking for answers when his body is found.

DJ, Axel Collins, is discovered 20 years after he disappeared from the party island of Ibiza, where he was living and working.
