This week marks 20 years since a gang of criminals tried to steal £350million worth of diamonds from London’s Millennium Dome.
After breaking through the perimeter in a digger, the robbers were all set to carry out a smash-and-grab raid on a diamond exhibit in the Millennium Experience’s Money Zone, and make their getaway along the River Thames by speedboat.
However, the police had been keeping some of the gang under surveillance in connection with two previous attempted armed robberies – and were lying in wait.
The Millennium Dome Heist with Ross Kemp tells the inside story of the gang, the raid and the undercover operation that foiled it, featuring interviews with police personnel who were involved.
