David Benoit
In a career that has spanned over four decades and has produced over thirty albums, David Benoit has consistently crafted songs and albums that provide musical moments that engage the listener. His most recent album, entitled David Benoit and Friends, is no different.

Despite the name of the album, there is no mistaking that this project is a Benoit album, but he is strategic and calculating with how the guests are presented and showcased. The albums opening track, “The Ballad of Jane Hawk,” is a tribute to a character in Benoit’s favorite series of novels written by Dean Koontz. It comes across as a sweeping declaration of victory, wrapped in a lush melody aided by Peter White on guitar and Tim Weisberg on flute. The following track switches the pace up a bit, but “Make It Real” continues the musical journey of this project. Jazz vocal sensation Lindsey Webster floats over the Latin-flavored track and transforms the song into an opportunity for Benoit to showcase one of his patented solos by the end of it.
