The first time you lay eyes on the overcrowded, dusty town of Jaisalmer, you’ll wonder why it’s named the ‘Golden City’.
While Jaipur and Jodhpur have earned their respective monikers because most buildings of the two cities sport their signature shades of pink and blue, the narrow bustling lanes of Jaisalmer are home to a motley collection of buildings, none of which are of the same colour. The city gets its nickname instead because of one magnificent structure, perched on a hilltop, overlooking the ancient city.
