Cinegoers took to Rajkummar Rao with a vengeance in 2017.
Be it in the acclaimed hits, Trapped, Newton and Bareilly Ki Barfi or the middle-of-the-road sagas like Behen Hogi Teri and Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana, he never put a foot wrong and swayed the audience with his versatility. No wonder he bagged the Best Actor (Critics’) Award for Trapped and Best Actor In A Supporting Role (Male) for Bareilly Ki Barfi at the 63rd Jio Filmfare Awards 2018.
Vikramaditya Motwane’s Trapped, he says, was the most challenging film of his career so far. It was an experience not eating or drinking for three weeks to get the gaunt look. “The physical and mental transformation I had to go through was challenging but fulfilling. I’m proud of Trapped,” he beams. He confides he was cranky while shooting for Trapped. “I wanted to be left alone. I was in my own space, completely aloof, whether on set or at home. With Trapped, I tasted something so real and truthful,” he says of the film, which detailed the trauma of a person trapped in an unoccupied high-rise.
