It was a chance discussion with her niece about periods that prompted Madhavi Jadhav to start ThatMate. com, a website that aims to trump sexual health taboos. Jadhav recalls, “When my niece got her first period, she asked her mother why women menstruate. Her mother shrugged it off, so she asked me. About 18 years ago, when I got my period for the first time and asked my mother about it, she told me that my school teacher will educate us about it. But my teacher skipped the chapter on the reproductive system. I then asked my friends if they had any knowledge about it, and they were confused too.”
