HE PLAYS the son of the most notorious gangster in KwaMashu. And just like his dad, he’s flashy, heartless and a hardcore womaniser. But Wiseman Mncube is nothing like his character.
The actor, who plays Sbonelo in SABC1’s hit drama Uzalo, has eyes for only one girl. His social media feed is filled with pictures of his six-year-old daughter, Lwandle.
“Our relationship is super tight – she is like a friend. As much as she’s my child, she is also my friend,” he tells DRUM.
“I also refer to her as my mom because she likes ordering me around. I keep telling her, ‘I’m sure you think I’m your son’,” he says, laughing.
Wiseman (30) may have a big part in the popular soapie, but fatherhood is the best role he’s taken on, he tells us.
“My baby arrived in 2014. At that time I was still struggling, busy with theatre. I was just a young boy but being a dad really makes me happy and proud. It’s a feeling you can never explain.”
He wasn’t prepared for fatherhood, but he was even less prepared to be a single dad. Wiseman’s world was turned upside down when he lost his partner in 2018. Up until now, he hasn’t gone into much detail about Lwandle’s mother’s passing.
“That part is too personal to me,” he told the Daily Sun.
On her birthday in November last year he opened up about his devastation.
