Meet Thomas Kyriakos… Getting The Shot

The 36-year old has been a key grip for 11 years. In 2008, he was employed by a rental house called Platform Studios based in Beirut and he worked there until he moved back to Sweden. Now he works as a freelancer and is employed by a company that manufactures high quality accessories for the film industry called Flowcine.

ACT: When did you know this was what you wanted to do?

TK: At first, I started working in the film industry as a side job for pocket money while I was studying interior design at a technical college, but after a while I was more and more attracted to the film industry and to the grip department and I decided to work  with what I have a passion for.

ACT: Has your family supported your career?

TK: At the beginning, my family weren't that supportive and wanted me to finish the domain that I was studying, but in the end when they saw that I am more into the film industry, they surrendered and supported me fully.

ACT: Who has inspired you in your life?

TK: I am inspired by Michael G. Uva, a well respected key grip with more than 35 years of experience in film industry.

ACT: What's the best advice you've received in life?

TK: The best advice that I’ve received in life is that one must always work with what he loves and he shall be successful.
