Giving up a career in the IT industry to pursue a passion for cooking is not an easy call to take. However, Jyoti Vishnani did just that and it was her Sindhi roots that made it happen for her.
Growing up in a close-knit household with her parents, grandmother, and younger brother, Jyoti was born and brought up in Ulhasnagar. “My mother used to make great food - she would often try out different recipes after watching Sanjeev Kapoor's Khana Khazana in the early 90’s.” This sowed the first seeds of interest in Jyoti’s mind and she learnt the basics of cooking from her mother.
“By the time I finished schooling, I could make a decent meal. My mom sent me to cooking classes in my 10th standard vacations and I realized just how much I enjoyed it. I was the only student who tried out what the chef taught us and asked for his feedback. He used to give me extra attention and share some secret tips too.”
