Ones to watch

EVA HAWORTH Great Ballard School, Eartham

Age: 13 Hometown: Chichester

Tell us a bit about yourself...

I have been horse-riding since I was very little and I enjoy competing in dressage. I also enjoy painting and drawing; my favourite media to use are oil pastels and acrylic paint. I love to use bright colours and different textures. I play the flute and also sing in the choir at school and at church.

What is it that inspires you?

The thing that really inspires me is looking back on something that I have achieved and seeing how far I have come. Something else that really inspires me is helping others.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?

I don’t really know yet what particular area I will focus on, but I know that I have high ambitions and I don’t want to limit myself to one thing when I could have a wider choice. Several members of my family were in the Royal Navy and this is potentially a career that I may choose.

How do you relax in your spare time?

Hacking out on my pony or listening to music. Whenever I can, I fit in a quick ride no matter how short, it is such a great way to relax and it’s a good way to connect with nature.

What would be your top tip for other pupils hoping to follow in your path?

Work hard, play hard. Although we all need to work really hard to achieve our goals you also need to have some free time where you can just be yourself and enjoy your childhood.

Summary of achievements

Head of School at Great Ballard and Head of Choir. Being awarded an unconditional place at Lancing College when I was in Year 6.

HANNAH WARDROP
