In August 2019, my husband, our two sons and I travelled to Jasper, Alta., for a wedding, where we stayed at the Pocahontas Cabins in Jasper National Park.
On our first morning, we decided to get up early and explore. It turned out to be a good decision! Driving along the highway, we spotted a herd of elk crossing the Athabasca River, so I pulled over as soon as I could and we all ran to the side of the road to get a better look.
