ABBOTSBURY CASTLE & ST LUKE'S CHAPEL
Enjoy superb views along the Jurassic Coast on this challenging walk

‘This walk gives stunning coastal views from the Isle of Portland’

This walk may be a little strenuous at times but it gives stunning coastal views from the Isle of Portland to Golden Cap, Lyme Regis and East Devon, and inland to Lewesdon Hill, Pilsdon Pen and Lambert’s Castle.

Abbotsbury Castle Iron Age hill-fort encloses 4½ acres and, with its ditches and banks, covers a total of 10 acres. A few Iron Age roundhouses are suggested by 20ft diameter hollows and loose stones possibly indicating walls.

Medieval St Luke’s Chapel stands alone, surrounded by woodland. It was only 32ft x 18ft. The west wall and corner survive, plus an altar-table of rubblestone.
