Australia is a blend of Aboriginal heritage and numerous cultures from across the world. Along with the traditions of indigenous Australians, the country also embraces the ethnicity of people migrating from other countries. Australian immigrants have their own values and habits, and these are squared with the land that hosts them. While the individual traditions of other countries remain identifiable, the country also ensures unity among the people.

Australia Melting Pot of Global Cultures

Aborigines

Australian Aborigines are considered to be the oldest living culture in the planet. Hallmark of their culture is 'living in harmony with nature'. They believe that nature is the core of all spirituality and natural elements like waterfalls, rocks, rivers, moon, sun, star and animals have an inter connection among themselves. To them; they are all sacred and environment is the essence of their godliness.

Aborigines lived in caves or simple structures made out of leaves and barks. They lived in harsh conditions with simple tools and incredible skills. Simple, sophisticated and appropriate way of life. Material things were regarded common among all, a person owning something was foreign to them.

Paintings in the shallow caves of the Uluru rock speak of the history and culture of the aborigines. ‘Rainbow Serpent’, an ancient mythological creature and Aboriginal god is believed to be the protector of water and one of the world’s oldest and continuous religious tradition. The Aborigines consider water to be sacred.

Cultural enclaves

More than 226 languages are spoken in Australia. English is the most common language while, Greek, Cantonese, Mandarin, Italian, and Arabic are also spoken by a vast majority of people. There are numerous cultural enclaves; groups where people belonging to the same culture live, some of which have become popular tourist spots. Ideal visiting spots for those who miss life back home, or just want to have an exotic cultural experience.
