Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2

£279 FROM Sennheiser, en-uk.sennheiser.com FEATURES Noise cancelling, 5Hz-21kHz frequency response, Bluetooth 5.1, USB-C charging; SBC, AAC, aptX

Sennheiser has now furnished its popular True Wireless earbuds with noise cancellation, as well as improving the battery life.

The Momentum True Wireless 2 cost £279, making them more expensive than our other recent favourites, the Sony WF1000XM3, which cost £220.

The earbuds look similar to the originals, with shiny metallic touch-sensitive housings and a rounded shape. The silver finish is slick and stylish, without being ostentatious. Even the inside of the buds looks good, with gold-plated charging pins and LEDs that indicate their pairing status. The charging case is similarly smart, with a grey woven finish; on the back you’ll find a USB-C charging port and a battery indicator button.

Sennheiser says the earphones are 2mm smaller than the originals, and you get four sets of different size ear tips, though if you have small ears you may find the housings feel a little uncomfortable after long sessions.

Touch control

The touch-sensitive housings allow you to answer or reject calls, adjust music playback, and summon your device’s voice assistant. The controls worked well, and you can assign different functions via the Sennheiser Smart Control app. There’s also a nifty auto-pause feature that stops your music when you remove the buds from your ears. The controls also allow you to toggle noise cancellation on and off, with a transparency mode that allows environmental sound to pass through.
