BABY COMEBACK CM
Computer Music|August 2020
We’ve got a cracking d-d-d-delay which has been d-d-developed just for readers. That’s you (you, you)!
BABY COMEBACK CM

We have a cracking Computer Music free plugin this month, in the form of BabyAudio’s Baby Comeback CM!

It’s a cut-down version of the developer’s Comeback Kid delay plugin and includes the same delay engine and some of the different flavoring algorithms that can be found on its big brother.

While it might lack some of the sculpting tools found on Comeback Kid, some of these effects are built into four ‘style’ presets called Wide, Saucey, Analog, and Cheap (which sound anything but!). These have been specially crafted to offer a wide variety of sonic options, and you’ll quickly use them to get some great-sounding, warm and lush delays.

The main delay engine in Baby Comeback CM has three BPM-synced modes called Straight, Dotted, and Triplet which is pretty self-explanatory and offers different timed delays, while the main Time dial allows you to select intervals down to 1/64th note.

A Free mode can also be used to select delays between 0.01 and 2500ms (and specific times can be input directly by double-clicking on the screen).

For the main Flavour buttons, the first, Wide, offers extra girth by way of the Wider algorithm from Comeback Kid and leaves the signal clean. Analog gives you an idea of what Comeback Kid’s Filters, Tape, Swirl, and Destiny functions can do by adding a warm and dark sound. Similarly, Saucey uses Kid’s Filters, Transient Designers, Richer, and Sauce algorithms for a lush delay, while Cheap explores Kid’s Filters and Destiny parameters for a vibey lo-fi delay.

If these four flavors tempt you to go for the extra flexibility of Comeback Kid, head to babyaud.io to pick it up for just $49.
