Taryn Brumfitt has created a body image revolution. When her kids’ book Embrace Your Body – based on her hit children’s song of the same name – was published this month, it was just another notch on her accomplished, inspiring and infectious belt. And there’s more to come.

Now, Brumfitt, 41, opens up to WHO about how her own body hang-ups led to her being celebrated alongside Beyoncé and Emma Watson, how she’s joined forces with Aussie stars Teresa Palmer and Celeste Barber, and even earned an Australian of the Year finalist accolade in 2019.

“After my third child I was going to have surgery, Brumfitt – who can only be described as an inspiration – tells WHO. “I booked in for a breast augmentation and a tummy tuck, and shortly after making that first appointment, I had an epiphany while watching my daughter play. How am I going to teach her to love and embrace her body when I’m having surgery? So, I cancelled.”

But Brumfitt says she was still “plagued with the thought” of having the “perfect body”. Chatting to her trainer, they decided the Adelaide mum should give body-building a go. But after taking to the stage with what she thought was the “perfect body”, Brumfitt admits, “it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be”.
