VANESSA BRYANT IS TAKING THE FIGHT FOR HER HUSBAND AND LITTLE GIRL TO COURT
Kobe's widow ‘I WANT JUST ICE'

When basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, were killed in a fiery helicopter crash on January 26, it was presumed to be a freak accident. But according to the 41-year-old’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, their deaths were avoidable – and now she is fighting for compensation.

The mother of four first filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the estate to the deceased pilot, Ara Zobayan, and Island Express Helicopters Inc. back in February, accusing them of negligence when they failed to check weather conditions prior to flying. The crash that killed the Bryants, along with the pilot and six other people on board, happened shortly after take-off, after they flew directly into thick fog. While many reports suggest the pilot was cleared to fly the aircraft by traffic control, some have suggested otherwise and that, in fact, it never should have been allowed to leave the tarmac.

Fast-forward to June, and Mrs. Bryant is seeking financial compensation. According to legal filings obtained by The Blast, “As a result of Kobe Bryant’s and GB’s deaths, Vanessa Bryant seeks economic damages, non-economic damages, prejudgment interest, punitive damages, and other relief as the Court deems just and proper.”
