Things haven’t been the same for varsity student Mapula (Mapula Mafole) since her cousin Dumisani (Siyabonga Mtshali) was recently released from juvenile detention. She still resents him for his involvement in his younger sister Dineo’s (Bongi Dlamini) death in May 2019. “Instead of disclosing her underlying anger, Mapula chooses to go on a path of self-destruction rather than forgive Dumi,” says Mapula the actress.
The varsity student crawled back to her no-good sugar daddy Gift (Nyaniso Dzedze) in late April this year to supress her grief behind her boyfriend’s Banele (Oros Mampofu) back. All they do is party until late, have sex and do drugs and that led to her being hospitalised after a drug overdose. “She believes that Gift is the only solution to her problems. Besides giving her money, he is an emotional escape,” adds the actress. But the affair with Gift not only complicates her relationship with her loved ones, it soon leaves Mapula homeless.
