FIGHTING WORDS The real Phyllis’s son Andrew attacked the show when it aired in April in the US, calling it “fake” and “nothing more than left-wing propaganda”.

The 1970s weren’t just about protesting against the Vietnam War or going to the disco in bold outfits and big hair. The era is also characterized by second-wave feminism in the US, where women from all works of life joined forces to overthrow systems that tried to suppress their voices, which plays into the premise of the limited series Mrs. America (2020).
