A mother will do anything to help and support her brood, even if one of them is accused of murder. In July last year, Susan’s (Maumela Mahuwa) son Vhutshilo (Wavhudi Lidzhegu) was blamed for murdering Tenda’s ex-convict brother Tshamano (both played by Nat Ramabulana) and the teenager was shipped off to a mental health facility. He has escaped now and is on the run from the police. “When Susan hears that her son is missing, she freaks out. She is concerned about his mental state and also where he’s hiding,” says Maumela. Days go by without any news, until out of the blue Vhutshilo knocks on his mom’s door in the middle of the night. And his reason for running makes sense to Susan – he wants to clear his name. “Her motherly instincts kick in and she decides to help him,” adds Maumela. There’s a problem though: Vhutshilo’s dad Azwindini (Gabriel Temudzani) takes issue with the situation and he all but forbids Susan from protecting their murder-accused child.
