You’ll have to take a second look at varsity student and orphan Mapula (Mapula Mafole) this fortnight because she too hardly recognises herself when she stares in the mirror. It’s got nothing to do with her wardrobe makeover and everything to do with the fact that she’s cheating on her loving boyfriend Banele (Oros Mampofu) with her much-older blesser Gift (Nyaniso Dzedze). “She is conflicted,” says the actress. “Gift tells her to clear her schedule whenever he needs her around. In return, he will shower her with money to spoil herself and her loved ones,” explains Mapula the actress. But the character only agrees to be Gift’s arm candy to rescue her boyfriend Banele from living on the street after he was recently kicked out of his varsity dorm room. “Mapula is barely coping. The lying and deceiving is unsettling. She needs the money, but at what cost?” reveals the actress.
