Even before she and her husband, Prince Harry, renounced their royal duties and made their way to L.A. in March, the duchess had sued The Mail on Sunday for publishing excerpts of an anguished letter she wrote to her estranged father, Thomas Markle, in August 2018. On July 2, the case took a dramatic new turn when Meghan filed additional court papers in the London High Court, in which she identified the five close friends who gave an interview to People magazine where they revealed that Meghan was emotionally traumatized by “lies and untruths” perpetuated by the British press.
