THE #FreeBritney protesters were out in force at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in L.A. on Aug. 19. The loosely organized movement of Britney Spears fans is united in one belief: that the troubled pop star, 38, under a legal conservatorship for more than a decade, is being controlled by her father, Jamie Spears. And for the first time, their idol appeared to publicly agree. In court papers, Britney had requested to have her father, who’d been sidelined by illness, permanently removed from her conservatorship in favor of her longtime care manager, Jodi Montgomery. “[Jamie] previously served as sole conservator of her person since 2008,” read the papers. “Britney is strongly opposed to having [Jamie] return as conservator of her person.”
