Nikki commissioned an impressive art collection to honor her husband at the Newman Enterprises 50th-anniversary gala. In real life, the eye-popping images were created by the show’s production designer, David Hoffman, with the help of his team, Art Director Jennifer Savala and Set Decorators Jen Haybach, Justine Mercado and Raquel Tarbet. Here, Hoffman talks to Digest about the work that went into building the elaborate composition.
Soap Opera Digest: What was the mandate given to you for creating this art installation?
David Hoffman: The installation was not only supposed to be a love letter from Nikki to Victor, but one from the show to Eric [Braeden, Victor], as well. It also needed to incorporate a lighting element that would assist in a key plot point that took place during the Newman Enterprises 50th-anniversary party.
