When you have a director of the capability of Rajkumar Hirani, an actor of Ranbir’s calibre and the controversial life story of one of the most ‘iconic’ superstars of India, Sanjay Dutt, the expectations are bound to be high. But is the film a mere attempt to bring forward Sanjay’s actual life story or did it have any pre-conceived agenda to whitewash the minds of the audience? Subhojit Ghosh investigates.
Rajkumar Hirani got everyone moving and excited with Sanju. While the fans were excited to get closer to the life story of their favourite Baba, critics were impatient to get a hang of what was coming their way to rip the film apart. Finally Sanju did make it’s way into the theatres without any hassle and was well received by the audience. While one section was completely in awe of the extremes of Sanjay’s life to conclude what a poor, innocent and harmless soul he was, the other section, probably a little bit more ‘rational’ started discussing about what all has NOT been shown.
