PHU QUOC is not called “The Pearl of Southern Vietnam” for nothing. White sandy beaches, waving palm trees and a lush, tropical landscape has long made Vietnam’s biggest island a favourite of those in the know. Situated in the Gulf of Thailand, only 200km from Trat Province, Phu Quoc is a hidden gem that’s been likened to Phuket – before the latter’s major tourism boom. A massive national park that takes up a big chunk of Phu Quoc, however, has assured that the island’s natural heritage has remained largely intact.
