A cake-baking supremo, a fitness guru, Prince George’s favourite eco-warrior and the undisputed dame of daytime TV are among just some of the household names recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list this year. And Lorraine Kelly, Mary Berry and Joe Wicks were no doubt popping the prosecco corks after the list of 1,495 recipients was announced this weekend – with their names on it!

An announcement of the honours is traditionally released in June to mark Her Majesty’s official birthday. However, it was delayed this year to allow the inclusion of people who went above and beyond the call of duty during the Covid-19 pandemic, with 414 individuals recognised for this. Last year’s birthday honours were handed out by senior royals at Buckingham Palace in autumn.

While many things have changed this year, one constant remains – daytime television. Every weekday morning Lorraine Kelly was on our screens presenting her ITV show Lorraine. So it’s appropriate this is the year she gets a CBE for services to broadcasting, journalism and charity. The 60-year-old boasts a TV career spanning nearly four decades.
