Making It A Family Affair With Sister Beatrice On Why We Should Never Forget The Plight Of Asian Elephants Princess Eugenie

‘Elephants have been part of my life since I was young’ Princess Eugenie

Rosalind Powell

Princess Eugenie hosted the private view in London last week of The Animal Ball Art Show in aid of conservation charity Elephant Family, of which she is royal patron.

Addressing the guests, among them her sister Princess Beatrice, who attended with her boyfriend Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Eugenie said: “Elephants have been part of my life since I was young.”

The show features 28 artworks created or donated by some of the most significant names in contemporary art, including Tracey Emin and

Joana Vasconcelos. Proceeds from sales will help the charity’s mission to prevent Asian elephants clashing with human neighbours.

Eugenie said: “I want everyone to think when they look at this art: ‘Why are we here?’ We are here because elephants are key to survival and we need to have the joy of looking at them and co-existing with them because they’re really remarkable creatures.
