FEBRUARY February 1 - 28

The National Garden Scheme Snowdrop Festival sees gardens across the county opening to the public to share the delight of these glorious little flowers which signal the first early signs of spring. To find a garden opening in your area, visit ngs.org.uk/snowdrops

The Assembly House Food Festival features a host of delights for food and drink lovers across the whole month of February. February 9 – June 14

Art Deco By The Sea is a major new exhibition at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts. It explores how Art Deco architecture and style shaped the modern seaside during the 1920s and 30s, through paintings, posters, brochures, photographs, fashion, furniture, ceramics and textiles. scva.ac.uk

The traditional spring and autumn UEA literary festivals is taking a break for 2020, with a special event planned for later in the year to celebrate 50 years of its pioneering creative writing programme. However, there is a one-off literary event featuring author Isabel Allende who will discuss her much-awaited new novel, A Long Petal of the Sea, in her first visit to the UK in 12 years. uea.ac.uk/litfest

The annual King’s Lynn Mart brings all the fun of the fair to the Tuesday Market Place attracting thousands of visitors. The Mart always opens on Valentine’s Day and usually runs for two weeks.

Comedy legend Jennifer Saunders stars in the revival of Noel Coward’s play Blithe Spirit at Norwich Theatre Royal. A tale full of high jinks, strange goings-on, an eccentric medium and a sabotaging spirit, the show has already received rave reviews.

The Norfolk Festival of Nature: Nature Walk and Writing Workshop sees nature writers Mark Cocker and Jean McNeil lead a circular walk around Cley and Salthouse Marshes. They follow it with a writing workshop looking at natural and literary history in the area.
