The Nitty-gritty Of Establishing A World-class Unversity In India
The Observer of Management Education|February 2018

India is a huge, huge country. In other words, the second most populous nation in the world with more than a billion people residing in it.

The Nitty-gritty Of Establishing A World-class Unversity In India

Hence, we have a very large number of young people waiting to get into college level education or those who are in colleges. To put it in terms of numbers, we have about 700 universities and over and above 35,000 colleges with about 20 million students populating them. And there is a bigger bunch waiting to get into them. So, the real moot point to be discussed is that we should have world class universities for our students to avail. They should have a good choice and selection of colleges and universities to get into for their higher level of education to take place in.

We owe it to our younger lot that they have a high level of college education to better their own standards and selves. For this to happen, the route is clear but not that easy to follow. First and foremost, one could tie-up and collaborate with high level universities and colleges from abroad and have them set up a local base here. Even if the college here is not exactly a replica of their mother institutes abroad, it should be on similar lines. In this manner we can make education of higher and respected universities from abroad available to Indian students here itself. Of course, there will be some ifs and buts, but by and large some kind of golden handshake can be arranged for.

World class institutes are an expensive proposition
