Ethics And Social Responsibility In Corporate Concerns Are Not Just Empty Words…
The Observer of Management Education|March 2017

The management world, or so people say, is rife with all sorts of tricks and trades which can make a person’s head spin, literally.

Ethics And Social Responsibility In Corporate Concerns Are Not Just Empty Words…

Though there are ethics, codes of responsibility et al which govern most corporate organizations, at times certain events do happen which bring in a doubtful perspective on the social responsibility factor. At least to an outsider, somebody who has not witnessed management at first hand, there are stories galore to make them believe that many a time, there are things amiss in the ethics department here. Whether these tales are just tales and not true or not, is another thing. This factor has to be explored, and a definite parameter found for it…

What is largely spoken of in management circles is that there was a time when everything here was a bit ruthless. Competition was always cut throat type. Where one had to, nudge out others from your sphere of activities. To all concerned, things often went out of hand where it was man eats man, and all within the purview of running successful corporate turning into sharks, so to say. Then, the wise men’s council sat down and decided to do something about this complete chaos where things just did not seem to work out in favor of doing something good for the society as a whole.

This is a serious matter, no doubt……

Enter the era of rules for ethics and social responsibility. This is serious matter, or so it was decided upon by the industry do-gooders. That, for one, you have to take care of the environment we live and inhabit. That, by just churning out products by the dozen, we will achieve little in the sustainability of the planet we are leaving behind for our children. That, in our manufacturing processes, we have to include ways and means to leave behind a healthy carbon footprint. We cannot afford to let our production team do what it feels is right for manufacturing a product line. The whole effort of manufacturing any product has to be in tune with certain procedures and practices which will impact the environment as a friend, not as an enemy.
