IN FORMING IMPACT, FIONA MACINTYRE HAS FOUND HER TRIBE OF LIKE-MINDED GLOBAL CITIZENS WHO AREN’T AFRAID TO BREAK THE RULES IN THEIR QUEST TO CHANGE THE WORLD, TOGETHER.

SUSTAINED IMPACT
They started out as a global group of change-makers and rule-breakers; a community of entrepreneurs, C-suite executives, impact investors, creatives and philanthropists, who would meet at events around the world. “We were the ones who were literally going out and changing the world,” Fiona Macintyre explains, who co-founded Change Makers Rule Breakers (CMRB) in 2014. “We weren’t living within confined walls but creating and innovating and inspiring the world to make a difference.”

As the saying goes, however, there is strength in numbers. “When we convened, what actually happened was impact. People really connected,” she continues. In 2018, CMRB morphed into Forming Impact. It’s a name she feels better reflects the evolution of a passion-project-turned-organisation. “It needed to be fuelled with purpose and it needed to be a home for the impact,” she explains.

Over the past six years, more than 450 people from around the world have joined the “tribe”, as Fiona often refers to it over the course of her interview with The CEO Magazine. Inspiration for the network had come from a visit to Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island, a trip undertaken for leisure rather than business that completely transformed her mindset. It seemed only natural to return to his Caribbean hideaway for the first meeting of the new community.

“I invited people in my life that I believed were change-makers,” she says. “I wanted to share a life experience that I believed would have a similarly transformational experience on them.”
