The International Rubber Study Group (IRSG) estimates that the global rubber demand is likely to post 1.8% growth in 2020. Natural rubber demand, which reached 14 million tonnes in 2019 is set to expand by 1.8% in 2020. Synthetic rubber demand, estimated at 15.74 million tonnes in 2019 is forecast to rise by 1.9% in 2020.
The automotive industry remains the biggest market for rubber, and developments in global automotive production augur well for the rubber industry. Electro-mobility or e-mobility, which pushes the development of electric-powered drivetrains geared to shift vehicle design from the use of fossil fuels, has paved the way for more innovative solutions in tyres and auto parts manufacturing.
