Rooibos, one of South Africa’s most valued natural treasures, has been a favourite brew for generations and remains a valuable economic resource for the country. But besides the fact that it is healthy and homegrown, how much do you really know about Rooibos? Here are a few facts that may surprise you.

1. Did you know that every spring the Rooibos shrub is covered in beautiful yellow flowers that form a seedpod with a single seed inside after pollination?

2. Have you ever seen a Rooibos seed? They are tiny and are sown in February and March each year. It takes approximately 18 months before the shrub can be harvested for the first time.
